In Mathematics, a polynomial is defined as an algebraic expression which consists of variables, coefficients, and mathematical operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication or division.

A polynomial is an algebraic expression which has two or more algebraic terms. It has variables, constants, coefficients, exponents and operators.

For example $5x^{2}+3y-8$

Variable: An alphabet which is used to represent the unknown value. Here $x$ is a variable.

Coefficient: A number which is multiplied with the variable. Here $5,3$ are coefficients

Operator: Operator may be either addition (+), subtraction (-), multiplication (*), etc.. Here $+,-$ are operators

Constant: Term which does not change. Here $8$ is a constant.

Exponent (degree): An exponent refers to the number of times a number is multiplied by itself. Here $2$ is an exponent.

Example: $4x^{2}+3x+5=0$
