Mean - Direct Method

To calculate the mean of grouped data we have three different methods - direct method, assumed mean method, and step deviation method. The mean of grouped data deals with the frequencies of different observations or variables that are grouped together.

Direct Method

The direct method is the simplest method to find the mean of the grouped data. If the values of the observations are$x_{1},x_{2},x_{3}.............x_{n}$ with their corresponding frequencies are $f_{1},f_{2},f_{3}.............f_{n}$ then the mean of the data is given by,
